Lakeshore Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Durham, North Carolina, only minutes from the RDU airport and also very close to Research Triangle Park.
Lakeshore Golf Course first opened for play in 1962. The course was designed by J. Marvin Utley.
The golf course winds it's way around a scenic 30 acre lake that also serves as the driving range for the course.

It's a short course (only 5,700+ yds off the whites) and not especially dificult, but it has some challenging holes. Water comes into play on 10 holes, and there are several doglegs, and trees everywhere, creating some tight fairways. It's convenient to Durham and RTP, and you can't beat the price for the area. (The afternoon weekday walking rate is only $13.) I play there 40+ times a year.

I play this course quite a bit as it is convenient for a late afternoon round, and the layout is more interesting than many more pricey courses. A good place to walk. Pace of play in the week is usually good, and slower players usually let you through. Fairways a bit so-so, but greens are good. Do not play 18 on Tuesdays as I came off 9 to find 3 foursomes being put in front of me. I assume this is a regular event, but I should have been warned it would happen. Ended up driving through to 14 and playing from there in.
